Created in 2015 for Ballet Nacional del SODRE in Montevideo, Uruguay, one and others explores the relationship between individuality and community. Set to Christos Hatzis’ string quartet The Awakening, the work brings ten dancers together in a constantly shifting landscape of encounters, dependencies and shared experience.

Inspired by the idea of individuals existing within a collective, the choreography reflects on how people can belong to a group while remaining unmistakably themselves. Physical risk, intimacy and precision coexist in a world where bodies support, challenge and transform one another.

For Demis Volpi, the creation of one and others marked a deeply personal turning point: a rediscovery of the joy of making dances and of the transformative power of artistic collaboration.
